Yaron Steinbuch: Editor. Photographer. Pilot.

Yaron Steinbuch is a digital editor at The Journal News/LoHud.com, a Gannett Co. media company in Westchester County, New York.

A native of Israel, he served as a gunner, combat medic and noncommissioned officer in the Artillery Corps of the Israel Defense Forces, attaining the rank of sergeant, and was awarded the Operational Duty Badge. He has also lived in Italy and Ghana. 

Yaron holds a bachelor's degree (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from New York University and a master's degree (with honors) from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Yaron is a licensed pilot and flies a Tecnam P92 Eaglet. He is a black belt in taekwondo and an advanced scuba rescue diver. He is a former auxiliary police officer, and a police academy-trained peace officer.

His journalistic experience includes many years of photojournalism — from film beginning in the 1980s to digital media of today. He owns several digital cameras, including Canons, along with a large selection of lenses and many accessories.

His interests include aviation, motorcycling, martial arts, percussion, physical fitness and scuba diving.
